So good! I think Foster is complicated. He is well written and so great for Everett. Lots of action and suspense. Everett has lots of emotional hurdles to overcome. The trauma is well written and Everett is an extremely strong character. There’s a little bit of separation, mostly due to a misunderstanding. Ares is a wonderful secondary character, I so hope he gets a story. I can’t wait for more!

Once again KL Donn has written a story that breaks my heart while putting it back together in the same moment.

Foster and Everett's characters are so broken there is no way anyone could believe they would find a happily ever after together. Mistakes are made, but in the end two would two broken souls discover their need for each other in ways you could never imagine.

An emotional journey, a gripping story and strong characters... these things come together perfectly. I loved the story, loved these characters, Foster and Everett, and loved the strength and fight they have. From pain grows love. I am drawn to the other characters as well and look forward to what will come for them. A must read.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Foster Halsey is a man who has been burned and just wants to live life and stay single. After coming home from his deployment and getting a divorce, he is recruited to the Task Force 779 elite team. His life is now filled with missions that are decided by the President of the United States and his team takes on the cases that are the most dangerous, could impact the US, and are of the most secretive subjects at times. This rescue mission was a tough one, but the woman he found in that room brought out his protective instincts in full force. He willingly stands up to a man that thinks he has all the power, but in reality, he’s a nobody.

Everett Gaines wants to get away from her life after she graduates from college and finds that her life as she knew it is not real. She wants answers, but she’s afraid that she won’t get the answers she wants or deserves. Could her whole life have been a lie? Her “father” was never around, nor did he really seem to be interested in her while she was growing up. While she gets away from everything for a little while, she finds herself in a situation that may kill her. If it weren’t for Task Force 779 rescuing her, that might have been the case. She’s back home and too afraid to live on her own anymore, so she moved back in with her mom. The only man that she feels safe with and that can get anywhere near her is one of the men that put his life on the line to save her, Foster Halsey. She feels awful that Foster and his teammate put themselves in harm’s way to saver her.

I loved this story. It was tragic, suspenseful, full of action, twists and turns, and some sexy men who are honorable, loyal, and very Alpha. I give this story a 5-star review and cannot wait for more in the series. If you are a reader and lover of military, suspense, or sexy Alpha’s you will love this story and the series, and I highly recommend it.

Explosive Encounter” is book two in the ‘Task Force 779’ series by K. L. Donn, and it’s a nail-biter. The books in this series center around members of a secret special OPS team that reports directly to the President of the United States. You don’t need to have read the first book in the series (which was also very good, by the way), in order to enjoy this one.

Foster is the explosives expert on the team, and he is nicknamed Chaos, which describes what he causes with his explosions as well as his disastrous divorce from his ex-wife. He’s more than content to remain single and devote his life to serving his country. Everett is the daughter of a highly ranked official in the CIA. She’s a recent college graduate, trying to sort through complicated emotions about her parents and her personal life. The plot in this book is incredibly intense, and I don’t want to give any spoilers that might lessen its impact, but the book blurb itself lets you know that she gets kidnapped so I’m not spilling the beans when I mention that. Her kidnapping and brutal captivity is the event that introduces her to Foster and kicks off a chain of events that will permanently change both of their lives. As events unfolded, I found myself pulled through the story because I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I’ll confess I sent three calls to voicemail because I didn’t want to interrupt my reading!

The excellent main and secondary characters are the driving force that makes this story come to life and makes the shocking moments more viscerally powerful. The twists in the story were nicely done. Be advised that you might want to have a tissue handy when you read this book, unless you want to wipe your eyes surreptitiously on your sleeve. The ending is fantastic and I hope there will be glimpses of Foster and Everett in future books in the series.

Another 5⭐️ read from KL Donn, not that I expected any different. Book 2 in the Task Force 779 series is about Everett (Evie) and Foster (Chaos). From their very first meeting (which is the stuff nightmares are made of), you knew these two were going to sizzle!
“Yup, one day, Everett, we’re going to
be explosive.”
Understatement of the century!!
Everett...I am not exactly sure how she is still standing half the time. Lies....betrayals..I would have crumbled to the floor with everything that was thrown at her. But not Evie. After every blow is delivered, she continues to exude strength that is beyond compare.
Then we have Foster, AKA Chaos. Such an appropriate name for someone who like “to blow shit up.” This man loves hard. So hard at times you want to smack him upside his damn fool head🤦‍♀️ But that’s something I’ve come to expect (and love) when I read a KL Donn novel❤️ These big, tough guys crumble when they find their match, but don’t for a second think that that makes them weak. Just the opposite in fact. They protect what they love including their women, their brothers (blood or not)...their family. Foster is absolutely swoon worthy!!
This book has it all. Ups, downs, love, betrayal, evil, twists and turns. READ THIS BOOK! Just make sure to carve out enough time because once you start, you won’t be able to put it down. I cannot wait for the next book!!! Get back to writing KL❤️

This is the second book in the series and we have met Foster "Chaos" and had a little bit to get to see is passion and dedication. It comes out full force in this book.

When the mission is bring home a kidnapped woman, there is bound to be some feelings involved in the extraction process. This time it was different for Chaos though. He got to spend extra time with Everett and for whatever reason she felt safe with him, this only strengthening their bond. Not entirely sure how to process his feeling as he had given up on women after his failed marriage. But there is still a pull he can't ignore.

Everett is slowly recovering from the worst nightmare. The way she was violated would bring down the strongest of women but she is determined to try and move past this. The love of her mother helping her. When there is sight of more trouble she finds the one person who truly makes her feels safe once again. She is so confused about why this is all happening her to but her attraction to Foster just seems to keep sneaking in.

Can they find the true threat and help Everett be free of worry? Will Foster convince her that they are worth the try?

I did feel that the love connection went a little faster than my liking. It seemed to loose a little bit of the connection with the characters. I did enjoy the story though and love the family feeling you get from the men of Task Force 779 and their women.

Explosive Encounter was very dynamic and lived up to the hype that the previous book set up. Foster and Everrett have it rough from the start. But, a bond was forged in that hellhole and a bond like that quickly shows you who you can trust and who you can’t. Even with that trust established, there are still some issues that they encounter as two people wanting to be together. Foster and Evie together are a dynamic couple. I loved how the story played out and how the bonds between the team seemed to leap off the pages. Everrett never experienced that type of relationship before and there would be no better group to bring her out of the darkness left by her horrible experience. No one should have to pull themselves from the darkness alone. Foster and the guys were right there in the darkness and made sure they remained with her and each other as support.

The giddiness I felt reading Foster and Evie’s story made the story itself fly by because I just couldn’t put it down. There were times when I couldn’t even breathe and then times where I couldn’t turn the page fast enough. This story like its previous is above any expectations that I had.

I can’t wait for the next book to release because if it is going to be like its series partners then it will be even better than Explosive Encounter!

Explosive encounter is book two in the ‘’task force 779’’ series. This story is short (199pgs) mixed paced and action packed. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline entertaining. This story kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. This story is full of angst, danger and twists and turns. I can’t say too much without giving too many spoilers so I will keep this brief.
When Everett gets kidnapped in Mexico, it is Foster and the men of the task force 779 that come to her rescue. Everett went through some horrific things and she still doesn’t have answers on why. She remembers one of the men’s voices that saved her. Foster is a divorcee that is married to his job. He isn’t looking for love but Everett changes that. Foster cannot help but feel a connection to Everett. With danger still chasing Everett, will she and Foster get a chance at love?
My heart ached for Everett for everything she had been through and continued to go through.
The chemistry between Foster and Everett is clear to see and I liked them as a couple. They really did suit one another.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books from this series.

First I have to say that I have been blessed to read a number of this author's books and each one has been amazing but there's something about these two and this book. There's nothing easy about them or they way they meet and the story soars not just from their meeting but from the first words on the page. Chaos thought he had his life all mapped out and the woman of his dreams right by his side. Unfortunately they both had different ideas of what their marriage would be and time and circumstances brought it to an end. He had no plans to ever open his heart again and held to that until he saw her picture. Everett was at a crossroad. Finding out some secrets had sent her life in turmoil and her into hiding. That hiding didn't last and just when she's ready to give up hope Chaos appears.

Secrets, lies, deception and danger are all close friends in this exciting and suspenseful read. Both will have to make some big decisions and this author makes it a thrill to be along for the ride. Her characters are definitely just what is needed and will take you on their emotional truly explosive encounter. This is a standalone story that has carryover characters which make it so much better giving you time to know the characters well.

(5 stars)

When Foster "Chaos" and his team rescue Everett from where she is being held in Mexico, not only does it not go as planned but it leaves him unable to forget about her. How is she? Is she ok? Is she still in danger from the people who took her? Living on separate sides of the country he knows he'll never get those answers, but when she turns up looking for her own answers he sees it as an opportunity to let her know how he feels. After one amazing night she pushes him away until something has her reaching out to him for help, something Foster and his team don't hesitate to provide. Will they get a chance to be together or will the enemies complete their mission? Is the enemy even closer than they think?

I really enjoyed this. It was fast paced, action filled, drama laden and of course the steamy side was great too. If I had to describe it in one word I'd call it exciting as I literally could not put this down until I had read it all. I can't wait for the next book and I'll be checking out this author's other works for sure. I give Explosive Encounter 5 stars.

I'm going to start this review by stating that it has taken me a couple of days to be able to process my thoughts and feelings adequately enough to be able to write my review on Explosive Encounter.

I have read all of KL Donn's books, I adore her as an author, and love all her books. However, seeing how this series is unfolding blows my mind. This series is on a whole new playing field. My mind has been blown, my heart has been crushed and put back together seeing how these stories unfold.

Explosive Encounter left me in a book hangover. I cried, I laughed and I fell in love with both Everett and Foster. Their story goes beyond the depths of love, it depicted violence, angst, pain and raw emotion. You can't help but turn the page to see what would happen next, would Everett be okay? Would Foster be able to love again? And more importantly what unexpected events would unfold to bring this story to a close.

I was unable to put this book down, I devoured it because the rawness of it consumed me. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

I truly enjoyed the first Task Force 779 book and was anxiously waiting for the series to continue.

Everett Gaines was rescued by Foster and the team when she was kidnapped in Mexico. He wanted more from her, but she didn’t want to give him a chance. When people come after her again, he is the first person she calls for help. She then relies on the Task Force 779 to get to the bottom of things.

This story was a bit emotional and there was plenty of action and suspense elements. I don't want to say anything that will spoil the surprises in these pages. I can’t wait to see what happens next with these amazing guys!

Hero (Foster) 5 | Heroine (Everett) 5 | Plot 5 | Writing Style 5 | Steam 4 | Romance 4 | Angst-Suspense 4 | Darkness 1 | Humor 1 | Secondary Characters 5 | Drama-Conflict 4 | Mystery 5 | Twists 4 | Action 5 | Pacing Steady | Dual POV | MF | Suspense | Part of a series | Can be read as a standalone | Triggers | Overall 5 Stars

5 "Explosive" Stars

This is not the first book by KL Donn that I have read, but it is the first book in the Task Force 779 Series that I have read. Without reading the first book in the series I was not lost and believe "Explosive Encounter" can be read as a standalone.

One thing I enjoy with KL's books is how she mixes danger, romance and suspense equally and seamlessly in her stories.

Everett and Foster were two characters that I enjoyed reading about and felt a connection to from their first encounter. Everett - That poor girl went thru so much I didn't think an HEA was in the cards for her but boy did I hope she got it. She shows so much strength even when the hits keep coming. Foster - He was as Alpha as they come and so patient with Everett it made for an enjoyable read. I will be going back and reading the first book in the series and am looking forward to more from Task Force 779.

The love story started out a little too fast for my preference. It seemed like there was so much action that occurred in the first few chapters, to fast forward to the point where the pick up on their “chance meeting”.
Despite that fact, the story was still a good one. You get the passion and desire for happiness from Foster who is seeking out Everett to satisfy an untamed need for her. You also get the reservations, but push to have a better future from Everett

Their tale starts to balance out in the later chapters of the book. They tackle so much, more than one couple should, but it just intensifies their attraction and makes their bond becomes stronger, more enviable. Throughout such tragic circumstances, they manage to find and keep a love that should have never been.

Overall, it was enjoyable getting to know the characters and the return of some of the boys from book one! I’m a sucker for a military styled story and this one did not disappoint.

Task Force 779 series started with such an emotional story I knew that the next books in the series were going to be just as explosive and boy was I right. K.L. Donn really wove a beautifully tragic love story between Foster and Everett.
Foster and Everett meet under horrific circumstances and this story takes you on a journey of them coming together after Foster rescues Everett. Everett has a hard time trusting after what she has been through and Foster is plagued by doubt about their relationship. Both of them have to overcome, push through and learn to be brave with each other.
I really loved the little nuggets Donn drops about the other characters. you get mini little insights into potential couples and future books. I love all of it!
This is definitely worth the read and should be read after book one.

Evie is amazing! She has been through trauma that would drive any woman to kill herself but she has fought through the storm. Her anchor is the storm is Foster who has just as much baggage in his past as Evie.

Things start to heat up and Foster does what most men do when they use their brain and end up making a wrong decision.

From this point in the story I found myself laughing at Evie and cheering her on when she puts a big bad alpha protecting her in his place. Haha!

For as much as these men around Evie protect her and have waves of alpha tendencies coming off them they crumble under a woman like Evie when she gets angry or starts crying. I love it!

I loved this next book in the Task Force 779 series! KL Donn keeps hitting them out of the ball park!

This story totally pulled at my heart strings. Everett has been through something unimaginable, but stands tall as she tries to navigate her way through life.

Foster saved Everett and was there for her at her worst. They both feel a connection between them. Even as time passes, they still feel it and Foster is determined not to ignore it.

Foster and Everett form a beautiful relationship together, it took time but they do get there. Of course, Everett is still finding out who she is and they do go through some ups and downs.

I love the suspense and mystery in this book. It keeps you turning the pages to find out what happened and who is behind what.

This series is fantastic and cannot wait to read book 3.

Foster and Everett...these two stole my heart. For me their relationship was a bit of a slow burn in the sense that they don't just immediately get together on page 5. They both have issues and things they need to deal with, they run from each other in fear, and they build a foundation strong enough to support their love. I loved the character development you get to see with Everett throughout this book and I love how she seemed to be able quiet some of the "Chaos" within Foster. He made her feel loved and cherished and gave her a support system she didn't know she needed. This is only book 2 in this series and in my opinion better than book 1. I can only imagine how good the next one will be!!

As with the first book in this series, I was completely consumed by Explosive Encounter. I knew that KL Donn could write stories that bring up some tough topics but she handles them with care. With Everett's story, she wrote an absolutely beautiful love story. She showcased this character's strength and determination and Foster's obsession and love. She keeps pushing forward and trusts her feelings when it comes to Foster. Her history with him allows her to let him close when it would be impossible with any other man. I loved that this story was overflowing with hope and love even in the face of some serious problems. I love this series and I adore KL Donn, her talent knows no bounds and I am a fan for life!

I received this book in advance for a voluntary honest review. Loved it! Second in the Task Force 779 series, this book is truly explosive! Foster is the explosives guy for his elite ops team . His team has been asked to rescue the daughter of a CIA member that was kidnapped in Mexico. Everett (Evie), was trying to clear her head on the beach at her father’s villa when she was taken. Enduring more than any woman should she struggles when she is rescued by Foster and his team to find herself again. Foster has been burned in love before but he just might change his mind when it comes to Evie, especially when he realizes she is still in danger. Love, strength, honor and betrayal make this a book you won’t want to put down.

Hurry and get this book because you won't be disappointed! This is the second book book in KL's Task Force series, and it was SO good! Everett made an appearance in the first book, and it was awesome to learn her story. She had so much trauma to get through, but it was really well written. Foster was an amazing hero. He was perfect for Everett, and the two just worked.
You had better make sure you have time to finish the book when you start, because you won't want to put it down! I was up late because I couldn't stop, and had to know the end! I highly recommend this book, but make sure you read the first book in the series before. It's definitely not a standalone.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.

Everett is a beautiful soul. She has been through some serious crap that should have made her run and hide and become a person that stays to herself. Foster oh my heart that man is all ALPHA and you can feel it from the start. He himself has been through something that could have made him lose all trust in womankind. However these two together and all bets are off. They push each other to do better, be better, and to live. To let all of the wrongs go for one another. There is suspense, romance, love, action, lies, deciet, anger, laughs, just everything you could dream of in a book and this book has it all!!!!! And oh my the emotions. Definitely a MUST read

Received as an ARC for an honest review.
Foster was among the men that was sent in to rescue Everett. Everett felt safe with Foster. Years after a nasty divorce, he is unsure if we will ever go that route again. But something about Everett sparks something inside him that he just cannot fight. I loved how even when he was not with her, he ensured she was safe. If she would call him telling him that she needed him, he would make his way to her no matter how far away. Loved that he was so protective and understanding of her. He never pushed her for anything. To me that is what makes the story. Great story.

Explosive Encounter by K.L. Donn a five-star read that explodes from the page. This is number two in the Task Force 779 series and you would enjoy reading them in order as there is some back story, but you don’t have to have read the series to enjoy this amazing story as K.L. Donn does a great job keeping you in the loop. Chaos, Chaos, Chaos you really do like to bring a bang don’t you, the only thing is can Everett Gaines cope with the bang? As poor Everett has been through so much that even the smallest bang could break her. I love how K.L. Donn writes female leads who may be broken but wont break. This is a great story and one I am sorry to have finished.

Explosive Encounter is book two in the Task Force 779 series. Loved it.
Everett and Foster’s first encounter was not an easy one. Foster had no plans to ever fall in love again. But a mission to rescue Everett changes everything.
Everett was a strong woman. She went through so much. Betrayal, lies and secrets and danger are all part of this suspenseful story. As always, love the heroes in KL Donn’s books. Love how protective they are of their woman and the people they love.
And the heroine’s are always strong, even though they go through so much.
Good read and fast paced. Loved the storyline. I read it in one sitting.
Can’t wait for the next book.

Evie and Foster’s story is simply fantastic. Super emotional? Yes! But, fantastic. Explosive Encounter is the second book in the Task Force 779 series. I am in LOVE with this series. I love Alpha male books and a good heroine in danger that still has a badass side. KL Donn never ever disappoints with her plots, her worlds or her characters. Reading one of her books feels like a personal journey you go through yourself. That’s how good she is at pulling you into a story. This book is one that once you start, you just can’t stop. So, remember that before you even read that first word. Get comfy, because you won’t be moving until you’re finished.

Evie and Foster’s story will take you on an emotional roller coaster with a suspenseful twist. I found that once I started Explosive Encounter Task Force 779 I didn’t want to put it down. It keeps you intrigued and wanting to know what will happen next. The raw feeling I felt for Evie as she went through so much heartbreak and then the joy she felt once she let go and just let Foster show her that no matter what he still loves her is outstanding. Congratulations KL Donn on another awesome book. Can’t wait for the next one!!!
